Also I think that this is a great feature in terms of usability, maybe not the most important thing to implement out there, but it should be relatively easy and well worth the effort. In my opinion, scaling the guest display should only happen for fullscreen mode and seamless mode, it doesn't make sense in windowed mode, so the normal default behavior is fine there. Or if you really want to make the feature robust, make an option that can be checked or unchecked in the menu, whether or not to scale the guest display. The answer is to scale the guest resolution so that it fills the whole host display. Changing the host resolution isn't the answer, as that is a nuisance. if a user sets virtualbox to fullscreen, that means they probably want it to be fullscreen no matter what, until they turn off the feature. I'm only saying that there is a better way for virtualbox to handle this. If the guest could change the host resolution just to maintain fullscreen status, that would be bad (a security issue in my opinion the guest shouldn't influence settings on the host at all) Obviously most people don't want this behavior if they are running in fullscreen.ĭon't get me wrong, I do understand the reason for this behavior. The result: a huge black box with a tiny little window in the middle. When running a guest in fullscreen mode, the user or a program might lower the guest resolution for one reason or another. I've noticed that virtualbox handles fullscreen in kind of a weird way.
I usually run the guest os at full screen.
